Be sure you have a grasp on all containers that have entered your hospital, and why, when, and who accessed these containers, including sign offs on any modifications or corrections. DEA experts emphasize that writing down your usage for your controlled drugs WHEN you use them, is the only way to ensure that you don’t miss out on documentation and introduce unnecessary errors. It shows that you take the compliance process seriously and spend the effort and prioritize record keeping to avoid omissions or mistakes.
